A married couple very devoted to one another, Anne and Genevieve share their tiny home in the Lower City with Annie's brother (who is all in ways that matter their son), Thomas. Though lacking in money they manage to just about keep their heads above water and form an eccentric and loving family.
ANNE: Fiery-haired and fiery-natured, Annie is a determined human woman strongly driven by her emotions. She was forced to grow up too young in order to protect her younger brother, Thomas, but after getting kicked out from the family home at eighteen and doing what she could to find a place for them both, Annie returned to collect her brother but found him gone (apparently having run away). Losing him for well over five years thanks to her parent's actions has given her an excessively protective streak at times for all of her loved ones, and it has taken her years to untangle herself even partially from those fears.
Hard-working and well liked by her market employers despite her argumentative moments with difficult customers, a dream of leaving the city with her beloved wife Gene has kept her going during the worst of times in the past. The newest crisis of Baldur's Gate adds a whole new flurry of chaos and loss to her life that threatens to bring her close to a point she'd never reached before: one where she gives up.
GENEVIEVE: A half-elven woman with a cheery demeanour and restlessness in her soul, Genevieve enjoyed many decades in one of the more peaceful countryside villages of the Sword's Coast with her human father and elven mother. When her father passed away, Gene felt her urge to move and see and explore build and build until it could no longer be ignored and, with her mother's blessing, set off to see more of the world. Passing through Baldur's Gate, she ended up settling there after falling deeply in love and quickly got married after. It has proven challenging to put together the means to move the new family elsewhere since, but the dreams have never died off, and Gene hopes to one day unite them with her mother back home.
Acting as the calming presence in their household, Genevieve has done much to keep up spirits when her wife and 'son' have been struggling despite her own distaste for their situation. As with most in the city, though, the Absolute closing in and the oppressive actions of the new 'Archduke' has put a damper on that. Time will tell if greener grass will ever be within reach.
