EMIL
PERSONALITY
Bright and full of whimsy, curious and full of a desire for new experiences, Emil was never going to be satisfied spending his life in the background. His family would have been perfectly fine letting him lead an uneventful life with all the luxuries their position afforded them on hand, doing nothing beyond providing them with song and story, and while he'd not deny he sometimes enjoyed those things... no. The family trading business, wide and spread all across the Sword Coast, was too tempting an opportunity for getting to see and experience.
There was a whole world out there, filled with interesting ruins and bustling cities and beautiful things, waiting for him. Never getting to experience at least some of it outside of Waterdeep's walls would have been almost agonising.
That whimisical side of himself, the wanderlust, the cheer are all very real and very genuine, but... they also serve to mask an almost scary talent for bartering and making contracts. Emil is sharp when it comes to details and has a knack for spotting when someone is trying conceal attempts to screw him over within fanciful words and flattery in particular... and while he plays fair in general, usually engaging with potential business partners with cheer and endearment? If someone tries to take advantage of this he is absolutely brutal in paying back the attempt tenfold, a fact that frequently takes people by surprise.
Perhaps, in a way, this is about ensuring he gets to keep doing what he's doing. Emil is generally a good-natured person but obviously not above twisting situations to his advantage, and to the advantage of those he likes and thinks well of. He can be rather vengeful in general when he wants to be, though once he's 'wounded his aggressor' is content to then let it go. Unless they want to keep the cycle going, of course.
There is also a competitive streak in there even outside of business, be it in matters of music, love, or games. And if it's someone or something he truly gets attached to? The young man's business sense will frequently seep into the personal.
