HAZEL
BASICS & SUMMARY
FULL NAME: Hazel Attwick | CLASS: Chronurgy Wizard | RACE: Human |
BACKGROUND: Rewarded | HEIGHT: 5'4" | AGE: 23 |
Raised by a restless, monster-fighting Wizard mother and then taught by an eclectic group of magical people into adulthood, Hazel was always bound to be a curious, eccentric sort of woman. She had a good head on her shoulders and was dedicated to learning her craft in hopes of one day getting out there to do as her mother did, but with maybe a little less foolhardiness. Getting abducted and locked in a tower for 5 years has instead sharpened her eccentricities and maybe made her even MORE prepared to take risks than her Mum, also granting her a deep hostility to anyone threatening chains on her… or anyone she decides is undeserving of it. Which is, indeed, a very wide category for Hazel (but includes above all else hags).
Now freed, she is proving to be someone always in search of a good time when her self-imposed duties aren’t calling. One might say she has become something of a show-off. In addition, when not getting her head turned by certain triggers, Hazel has an optimistic approach to problems even as extreme as the mindflayer parasites; after the ‘luck’ that dragged her out of the tower and then ensured she wouldn’t immediately turn, she feels that that life is finally going to work out for her and things will fall into place if only she chases the right information and works the problems through.
It is, after all, time to live!

MISCELLANEOUS
- Hazel's particular themes and inspirations are twofold. First, the Rapunzel fairytale (though with plenty of twists and turns compared to the original). Second, the idea of a stage magician, and in particular there the use of playing cards and a general sense of dramatics.
- She has a trio of summoned 'crows' who are her familiars; their names are Spade, Club and Diamond, referencing the above. More specifically Spade and Diamond take the form of carrion crows, whereas Club takes the form of a hooded crow. Club was the first familiar to be summoned and thus considers herself to the the 'leader' of the three, though this is frequently a source of arguments between them. Where's Heart? Hazel likes to joke that she should have that nickname.
