Thomas is a tall, lanky human lad, aged 28, with a strong jaw and a usually clean-shaven chin. His skin is pale with pinkish undertones, he sports freckles all over his face and body, and he has blue eyes with somewhat thick eyebrows.
For his most accurate appearance check out his Dragon's Dogma 2 screenshots; it's almost entirely accurate with two exceptions. One, the scar, which is in reality more prominent and way more messy. Two, he's also missing the freckles there. More detailed design notes below:
He has a thick head of orange-toned red wavy hair (you'd call it type 2C hair). It's rather long, falling just under his shoulderblades. While a bit of a challenge to maintain in general he does so with extreme diligence and care most of the time.
Worn tied back when on the road, this usually means it's carefully pinned into a bun, put into a low ponytail if time is limited or woven into a thick plait with a little left loose to frame his face (unless he's anticipating a fight, in which case it's all tucked back). High ponytails take more work but are more common when he's socialising or trying to impress. You'll rarely find it left fully loose unless the mood's romantic... or he's exhausted and out of it. Generally, how he's wearing his hair and its current condition tells you a lot about Tom's state at that moment.
More detailed body notes! He's 6'2", and has the kind of lanky build where his height is largely in his legs and he has long arms as well. He's missing his right ring finger almost entirely.
On his cheek is a prominent, jagged and rather messy scar that also crosses his nose somewhat; it's the result of a rather nasty glassing when he was a teenager. Said right cheek is also scattered with numerous smaller, paler scars in quantity. There are numerous normal life scars scattered across his body as well, and during BG3 he acquires a prominent scar on his stomach from an arrow wound that would have killed him without clerical healing on hand.
His 'resting face' is solemn, somewhat guarded and without a smile, though when in comfortable environments amongst trusted people it will soften up considerably.
Favours cooler hues and greys in his clothing... when he has a choice. Pre-BG3 what he wore was usually what he could afford, or what his sister's wife was able to make for him with whatever cloth she was able to get. His one old set of leather armour, left behind in the city, was patchwork in places and oft-repaired but cared for well. The BG3 journey equips him with better armouor than he ever possibly could have afforded back in his old life.
His signature weapon, forged in Act 1 and kept throughout the game as a coping tool, is the Sussur Dagger. It is only ever worn with a glove, otherwise its silencing effect plays havoc on his sorcerous blood (though sometimes he seeks this out after a bad magical outburst).
Magic wise, he obviously favours lightning, thunder, wind and generally anything from the tempest sphere, as this comes most easily to him as a storm sorcerer. Sometimes he struggles with this fact, due to his occasional issues with controlling it when emotional and Stuff From His Upbringing, but it's so natural to him and the stakes so high he also doesn't hold back from using it.
Obviously can't be captured in visuals, but this remains the best place to note it, so! Thomas has a voice that is gravelly, quiet and with a thick 'Baldurian' accent. Usually he sounds as serious as he looks, but there is a softer element to the tone as well that is stronger when he's feeling happy or romantic and vanishes entirely when he's angry. As a bonus: when upset he has a tendancy to ramble, repeating words and phrases often.
