THOMAS

IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIPS - ORIGINAL/BACKSTORY

ANNE KILLETHYM (SISTER): His beloved sister, usually called Annie by him, is 12 years older than her brother. She is more parent than sibling to him in most ways, and indeed, when talking about Tom to others, she outright calls herself his 'actual Mum.' Anne and Thomas look strongly alike and also share a bit of a fiery temper; you'd think this might cause them to argue a lot but that is actually not the case, with their relationship being overall warm and close with disagreements being rare (though, indeed, when they do happen rather heated in nature). She can be rather overprotective of him, however, which, while understandable considering their background, does frustrate him at times.

GENEVIEVE KILLETHYM (SISTER-IN-LAW): Anne's wife and Tom's sister-in-law, who acts as a second mother to him. The cheerful and calming heart of the Killethym household, usually approaching matters with a sense of humour, she helps both Annie and Tommy manage their tempers and face their difficulties head-on. Tom generally goes to her first for advice on anything troubling as he can trust her not to get overly worried unless it's truly justified.

MATHIAS (FATHER): Simply put? Thomas hates Mathias with a passion and a complete inability to ever forgive, still affected as he is by his father's cruelty decades later. As an adult Thomas has only seen the man a handful of times and every time they've run into one another has descended into fierce argument, anger and hurt... and to Tom's chagrin and frustration, a lot of fear on his own part. Annie is of the opinion that Mathias's bitterness will never run dry, and that the 'spiteful old man will never fucking try to make it better' with Thomas.

DYNA (MOTHER): While Thomas does not hate his mother in the way he does his father, he still harbours a lot of anger towards her over her inaction in his relationship with Mathias and also because she did little to try and find him after he ran away from home. There is a part of him that continues to wish Dyna would finally tell off Mathias and stand up for her son, however, which frustrates him. Dyna does try and pay occasional visits to Tom but Annie's relationship with her is even worse than Tom's is, making such occasions rarely anything pleasant.

JONATHAN (OLDEST BROTHER): A rather distant relationship, Tom has seen his eldest brother maybe a handful of times in the past decade and was barely acknowledged. But this does seem to be common for Jonathan with most people in his life.

JEREMIAH (YOUNGER BROTHER): As children Thomas was very jealous of his younger brother, who was his father's favourite and received all the love and doting that Tom had never gotten. As adults? Who knows. Tom has not seen Jeremiah properly in many years and feels instinctively bitter towards him but has little idea of the type of person his little brother has become.

SILVESTER (EX-BOYFRIEND): For three full years Thomas was in love with Silvester, and fully devoted to what he thought would be a lifelong relationship. But it was not to be. Having missed so many of the warning signs about his boyfriend's behaviour, Tom eventually found out (through Myrri) that Silv had been cheating on him for almost a year and this resulted in a messy, hurt break-up with a very emotionally wounded Thomas struggling to get past it.

MYRRI (FRIEND): A companion in their childhood gang and someone who once saved Tom's life, Myrri is his best friend and ardent supporter through all the struggles he's experienced. He cares for her like a sister and will go out of his way to help her when she needs him, and thus, she is one of the very few that Thomas currently allows to call him 'Tommy.'

IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIPS - CANON

Keeping this section short and extremely summarised, as it entirely addresses relationships within BG3's storyline itself.

In general, Thomas tries very keenly and perhaps overly aggressively to help and protect the found family that is formed around him. He'll take threats against them extremely poorly... even if that 'threat' is themselves. It's hard being 'sensible,' when for most of your life you've thought yourself the sort to be an issue for those around you.

(Yes, okay, he's absolutely had his moments... usually in a corner of camp where he can let those winds whirl without risk. Usually).

GALE; starts off defensively on Tom's part, quickly blooms into a close friendship and deeply sincere romance in turn. Tommy gets down bad. ♥

KARLACH; an instant friendship between two people with a lot in common, the easiest bond Tommy forms after leaving the nautiloid.

WYLL; another easy friendship, Tom worries for Wyll quite a bit but otherwise finds him deeply admirable and easy to trust.

LAE'ZEL; difficult at first, and always remains a bit feisty, but becomes respectful and as family over time.

ASTATION; like a pair of bickering siblings from start to finish, with arguments and disagreements on many issues, but ultimately loyalty.

SHADOWHEART; they struggled to understand one another for a long while, but eventually become one another's confidants.

HALSIN; he becomes an expert at helping Tom calm down after an angry outburst, and a trusted member of the family.

MINTHARA; they work together as they must but otherwise share a deep and mutual dislike for one another.

JAHEIRA; he feels like a small, unknowing boy in her presence, awed by her history and knowledge.

MINSC (AND BOO); Tom finds him bewildering, absolutely mindblowingly bewildering, as a person. But also easy to like.

THE EMPEROR; initially trusting, towards the end breaks down hard and fast as Tom begins to feel manipulated and used.

DAME AYLIN; they are absolutely annoying allies, being the sort of people who bounce off each other's eccentricities far too well.

VOLO; help.
